The Critics Consensus - The Sims 4: City Living

A definite must own if you're a Sims 4 player. It could be argued that most of the content in this pack should've been in the base game but there is no denying that the apartment and neighbor system richly enhances the game. Add in all the new items and outside interactions your Sim can do and you'll see why this is a must own expansion pack. At the time of this post The Sims 4: City Living had a metascore of 78/100. Industry Reviews

The Sims 4: City Living encourages you to be constantly out and doing things. In a word, it is refreshing. It's precisely what I felt was missing from the base game of The Sims 4 and from every expansion since. My only true criticism of it is that it's an expansion. I wish that the base game could've felt as real as City Living does, and I wish I didn't have to spend $40 on top of the $40 for The Sims 4. If you've been holding off on The Sims 4 until That One Expansion, City Living is the one.

City Living gives us a township full of life that’s easy and fun to explore. With new ways to do jobs and fun interactions with neighbours, this is one expansion any Sims lover should add to their collection.

The Sims 4: City Living is an excellent addition to the core, and possibly the best apartment-themed expansion in series history. It’s also the best add-on The Sims 4 has produced yet. Many of its ideas are recycled from previous iterations, but what’s new takes the series forward in interesting ways.

The Sims 4: City Living gets an absolute recommendation for fans looking for a new way to play.

City Living enhanced considerably the gameplay of The Sims 4 and adds an excellent expansion to the core. It is clearly visible what has been the starting idea, provided by the experience of The Urbz for PS2 but declined in a newer and fresher form.

The Sims 4 City Living creates new and meaningful gameplay on the Sims formula, and is the best expansion The Sims 4 has seen to date. It has smart gameplay, new ways to interact with the world, and an amazing new setting. If living the city life sounds fun, you cannot go wrong with City Living, however if that doesn’t intrigue you, there is not much here for you.

Judged on it's own merits and not whether it should've been base content or not, we regard this pack as a very solid 80/100. If you feel that most of the content should've been included in Sims 4 then you might rate this one lower.
