Planet Coaster: Ghostbusters is the most ambitious content pack Frontier Developments made for Planet Coaster, and it treats the 1984 film with real affection. Dan Aykroyd and William Atherton return as Ray Stantz and Walter Peck in a fully voiced story campaign. Two new rides, authentic scenery and Ray Parker Jr.'s famous theme bring the Ghostbusters straight into your parks. This is an add-on, so you will need Planet Coaster to play it.
Your Park Has a Ghost Problem
The pack centers on a new story-driven scenario. Your theme park is overrun by paranormal activity, with apparitions turning up on the coasters and scaring off the guests. Ray Stantz and the Ghostbusters step in to help you clear the haunting and get the fun back. Aykroyd plays Ray with the same easy enthusiasm he brought to the film, and Atherton's Walter Peck is every bit the officious thorn in the team's side he was in 1984. Hearing the two of them trade lines inside a park builder is a real treat for fans.
Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and a few surprises turn up along the way. The campaign runs on Planet Coaster's management systems, so you keep building, landscaping and looking after your guests while the story plays out. It also works as a guided tour of everything the pack adds.
Two New Rides With Real Personality
- The Ghostbusters Experience
- An interactive dark ride that seats riders in the ECTO-1 and sends them through a haunted location. Ghosts appear along the route, riders bust them for points, and a high score table tracks the best runs. That gives the attraction a competitive streak most dark rides never have, and it makes a natural headline for a Ghostbusters-themed area.
- The RollerGhoster
- A Slimer-themed kiddie coaster, with Slimer himself leading the train through the track's twists and turns. It is built for younger guests and sits comfortably beside your bigger thrill rides. The family-focused corners of your park get a centerpiece with plenty of character and a familiar green face.
Straight From the 1984 Original
- Ghostbusters HQ and Spook Central - The team's firehouse headquarters and the haunted Central Park West high-rise from the film's finale arrive as scenery pieces. Use them to anchor a themed district or to frame the entrance to the dark ride.
- The ECTO-1 - The team's converted Cadillac ambulance is included as scenery as well as the dark ride vehicle. Park it outside the firehouse or anywhere else that needs instantly recognizable Ghostbusters flavor.
- Authentic sounds - Sound effects taken straight from the original movie fill out the pieces, so the rides and scenery look and sound the part while guests wander between them.
A Soundtrack Worth Answering
No Ghostbusters pack would be complete without Ray Parker Jr.'s theme, and this one includes it in four versions: the original, an instrumental version, an acoustic arrangement and an orchestral arrangement. Spooky Library Scene Setter and The Temple of Gozer round out the collection with something more atmospheric. Together they let you set the mood across a themed area, whether you want a full-volume singalong by the firehouse or a creepier tone around Spook Central.
Frontier has been building theme park games since RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, and this pack shows what that experience can do with a much-loved license. If you grew up quoting the film or simply want a park with more personality, add Planet Coaster: Ghostbusters to your collection, take the call from Ray and start clearing the ghosts out of your park.
