Monster Hunter Rise takes the series to Kamura Village, a serene mountain settlement that has lived in fear of the Rampage for fifty years. The Wirebug reshapes how a hunter moves and fights, 14 weapon types cover every playstyle, and this release layers on up to 4K resolution, HDR, ultrawide support and an unlocked frame rate, with free title updates adding new monsters, quests and gear.
Monsters shaped by Japanese folklore
Returning fan favorites share the field with all-new creatures drawn from Japanese folklore, led by the flagship wyvern Magnamalo. Every monster has distinct behaviors and a deadly ferocity of its own, so a hunt is won by thinking on your feet and mastering its tendencies rather than by trading blows. Watch for the limp that signals a badly wounded target, and the rewards follow.
Fourteen weapon types and the Wirebug
- A weapon for every playstyle
- Charge up and hit hard with the Great Sword, dispatch monsters in style with the Long Sword, become a maelstrom of blades with the Dual Blades, charge forth with the Lance, or take aim from range with the Bow and Bowguns. Fourteen weapon types in all, and you can swap at any Equipment Box between quests, so trying a new style costs nothing.
- Wirebug traversal
- The Wirebug's silk lets you zip up sheer walls and cross maps in seconds, opening vertical routes that older entries never offered. Reaching a ledge or closing the distance on a monster takes moments rather than a long scramble, which keeps the pace of a fight high and the downtime short.
- Silkbind attacks
- Each weapon type gains special wire-based attacks that are unique to it, so the Wirebug is as much a combat tool as a traversal one. They change the rhythm of familiar weapons enough that even a series veteran will find new habits worth building.
Hunt, gather and craft your way up
Every monster you bring down provides materials for new weapons and armor, and for upgrading the gear you already carry. Better equipment lets you take on fiercer monsters, which drop better materials in turn, and that loop is the heart of the series. With materials flowing from every quest, there is almost always a next upgrade worth chasing.
Buddies, Wyvern Riding and the Rampage
- The Palico Felyne companions from earlier adventures are joined by the brand new Palamute Canyne companions, a second buddy type that is there to help from the moment a hunt begins to the moment it ends.
- Wyvern Riding lets you take control of a raging monster and steer it into your actual target, dishing out massive damage and turning the most dangerous creature on the field into a temporary weapon.
- The Rampage is an all-new quest type in which hordes of monsters attack Kamura Village at once, and you must hold the village against them on a scale the series has never attempted before.
Solo hunter or four-player squad
The Hunter Hub offers multiplayer quests for up to four players, and difficulty scaling ensures a fair fight whether you go in alone or as a full squad. This release also comes with immediate access to a number of free title updates that add new monsters, quests and gear, so there is plenty to hunt beyond the main story.
Kamura Village has waited fifty years for the next Rampage. Pick your weapon, call your Palamute and go see what is coming over the ridge.
