Killing Floor 2 drops you into continental Europe one month after the events of the original Killing Floor, where Horzine Biotech's failed experiment has spread out of control. Governments have collapsed, the military has been wiped out, and the specimen clones known as Zeds are everywhere. Tripwire Interactive's co-op shooter hands you a perk, a loadout and up to five teammates, then throws wave after wave at you until only the boss remains.
Europe Belongs to the Zeds Now
Communications have failed and civilization is in disarray, but not everyone has given up. A group of civilians and mercenaries has banded together and set up privately funded operation bases across Europe, tracking each outbreak and descending into the hot zones to exterminate whatever is waiting there. You are one of them, and the job is never pretty.
Every match plays out as a series of escalating waves. Between waves you spend the Dosh you earned at the Trader, upgrading weapons, restocking armor and ammunition, and preparing for whatever comes next. Survive long enough and a boss arrives to test everything the team has built.
Know Your Enemy
New enemies join fan favorites from the original game, all with smarter AI that works as a group to wear your party down. The roster rewards players who take the time to learn it:
- Clots and Gorefasts make up the bulk of every wave, surrounding careless players and grabbing hold long enough for the heavier Zeds to close in and finish the job.
- Sirens, Bloats and Husks punish a team standing in the open, screaming your projectiles out of the air, spewing bile across the floor or launching fireballs from a distance.
- Scrakes and Fleshpounds are the heavy hitters. Hit one carelessly and it enrages, tearing through anyone in its path, so the whole team needs to know who takes the shot and when.
Bosses such as Hans Volter and the Patriarch close out a full game, and reaching them with the squad intact is half the battle.
Perks, Weapons and Zed Time
- An Expanded Perk System
- Perks from the original game return reimagined, with new ones added alongside them. Each one levels up with meaningful talent choices, so a Field Medic, Berserker, Support or Commando can be tuned toward very different play styles as you progress.
- A Unique Blend of Weaponry
- Modern military assault rifles share the Trader's shelves with brutal improvised weapons, classic historical guns and off-the-wall "Mad Scientist" creations, so every perk has its own toolkit and every loadout feels different.
- Brutal Melee Combat
- Melee has been rebuilt from the ground up. You control the type of attack you deliver, from quick strikes to heavy, bone-breaking blows that cripple a Zed and stop it in its tracks before it reaches your team.
- Zed Time
- The series' signature slow motion returns better than ever. At the moments that matter, the action drops into slow motion, giving you the precious seconds you need to thin out the oncoming horde and watch your weapons at work.
- Visceral Gore
- Tripwire's persistent blood system sends entrails, severed limbs and blood flying with every hit, and the mess stays on the walls and floor as the fight goes on. Get caught, though, and the Zeds will tear you and your entire party limb from limb.
Co-op, Solo and Versus Survival
- Co-op Survival brings up to six players together online, each choosing a character and a perk so the team covers healing, crowd control and the big targets between them.
- Solo play is there for anyone willing to brave the specimens alone, a demanding way to learn the maps, the Zeds and your favorite perk at your own pace.
- Versus Survival lets you be the Zed. Twelve players split into two teams and take turns as Humans and Zeds across a pair of short matches, with the higher-scoring team taking the win.
Steam Workshop support and the included level editor have given the community plenty of room to build, and years of seasonal updates have added new maps and weapons. The servers are still live, and seasonal events continue to bring players back to the killing floor.
