Warfare That Rewards Thinking
Built on the Essence Engine 3.0, Company of Heroes 2 simulates what your soldiers can genuinely see rather than revealing everything within a fixed radius. TrueSight means a hedgerow, a smoke screen or a ruined farmhouse can hide an entire anti-tank crew until the first shot lands, so scouting and positioning matter as much as production.
ColdTech weather changes the map beneath you. Blizzards roll in and cut visibility, exposed squads take freezing damage until they find shelter or a fire, and frozen rivers open new routes for your armor right up until the ice gives way. Add destructible environments, hard and soft counters and Commander Abilities that unlock through the match, and every engagement becomes a stream of meaningful tactical choices that can turn the tide of the war.
Five Armies for the Multiplayer Front
- Red Army: Conscript-heavy, resilient and comfortable trading numbers for ground, with powerful late-game options such as the IS-2 and Katyusha rocket artillery when the fight drags on.
- Wehrmacht Ostheer: Disciplined defensive play that scales into some of the game's finest armor. Grenadiers, MG42 teams and Panthers reward players who hold ground and pick their counterattacks carefully.
- Oberkommando West: Fewer, better units. Every squad is precious, so OKW plays like a scalpel, with elite infantry and heavy vehicles that punish overextension when they are used with discipline.
- US Forces: The most flexible army on the roster, built around combined arms, mobility and support weapons rather than heavy tanks. The USF thrives in the hands of a player who keeps everything moving.
- British Forces: Emplacements, Royal Engineers and a tech tree that asks you to commit to either mobility or defense. Late-game Churchills and Comets make the patient British player very hard to dislodge.
Multiplayer is shared across the whole series on your platform, so you can play on any map against anyone who owns any Company of Heroes 2 product.
