Frozen District is a Krakow-based Polish developer and publisher whose name is inseparable from House Flipper, the first-person renovation simulator that turned scrubbing floors and knocking down walls into one of the most quietly compulsive loops on Steam. Released in May 2018 and created together with the Empyrean team, with PlayWay co-publishing, House Flipper arrived as an unassuming simulator and became a genuine best-seller, finding an audience far beyond the traditional simulation crowd among players who discovered that gutting a ruined kitchen and staging it for a picky buyer is a deeply satisfying way to spend an evening. The studio has supported the game continuously since launch, growing it with substantial themed expansions covering gardens, pets, luxury properties and farm life alongside a long run of free content updates.
That single hit has grown into a durable franchise and a wider business. House Flipper made the jump to consoles and mobile, a licensed HGTV expansion brought television renovation flavor to the PC release, and in December 2023 the studio shipped House Flipper 2, a full sequel with rebuilt tools, a story-driven career and a dedicated sandbox mode. Operating within the orbit of Warsaw-listed publisher PlayWay, Frozen District has also taken on publishing and investment work of its own, backing smaller Polish teams working in the same cozy simulation space. For players, the catalogue stands for a particular promise: approachable, methodical games about fixing things up, where the reward is watching a wreck become a home under your own hands.
