Invaders from outer space have flattened Bricksburg. What is left is Apocalypseburg, a gritty wasteland where everyone has toughened up except Emmet. When the strange inhabitants of the Systar System carry off his friends, Emmet heads beyond his world to bring them home. The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame from TT Games follows The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part across open, brick-built planets full of secrets, builds and familiar faces.
A Rescue Mission Across the Systar System
General Mayhem swoops in, takes Lucy and the gang, and leaves Emmet to chase them across the stars to the court of Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi. On the way he crosses paths with Rex Dangervest, a galaxy-defending, raptor-training adventurer who has a suspicious amount in common with Emmet. The film's humor carries straight into the game, with voiced characters and plenty of sharp gags. Its big idea comes along too: you do not have to turn grim to be tough.
Open Worlds Instead of Linear Levels
This is a different shape of LEGO game from the classic TT Games formula. Instead of a run of linear story levels, each world is an open area you can roam freely, from the rubble of Apocalypseburg to colorful alien planets. Exploring opens up new areas, so wandering off the main path is always worth it.
- Master Pieces: Uncover these across each world to unlock new destinations in the Systar System. They steadily widen the map and keep pulling you deeper into the adventure.
- Relics: Crack these open to reward new characters and items. They expand the cast you can switch between and the tools you carry into every new planet.
- Hidden corners: Each world hides secrets that only the right character or the right build can reach, so it pays to come back with new abilities and look again.
Master Building, Your Way
Building is still the heart of it all. Emmet's Master Building turns piles of bricks into the bridges, gadgets and contraptions that open the path ahead, and the build instructions you collect let you drop your own creations into the world. Every hero brings their own abilities, so switching between Lucy, Unikitty, Benny, MetalBeard and the rest is how you reach places one character alone cannot.
Better With a Friend
A second player can drop in or out at any time for local co-op on one system. That makes it an easy pick for siblings, parents and friends playing together. Fights stay light and cartoony: you punch, kick and blast your way past robots and Duplo creatures that burst into a shower of bricks, while puzzles and building keep things moving between battles.
Emmet's friends are somewhere out among the stars. Grab a partner, step through the ruins of Apocalypseburg and find out how far a little optimism and a lot of bricks can take you.
