eFootball PES 2020 is Konami's soccer sim at its most deliberate. Built on the Fox Engine and refined with input from Andrés Iniesta, it rewards a patient passing game where a clean first touch, a well-weighted through ball and a sharp change of direction decide matches. It earned the E3 Best Sports Game award before it ever reached players.
Close Control Refined With Andrés Iniesta
The biggest change in PES 2020 is how players handle the ball. Konami developed the new dribbling and first-touch systems in close consultation with Iniesta. The result is a game that asks you to think about how you receive the ball, not just where you send it.
- Finesse Dribble: small, precise touches let a skilled ball carrier move the ball away from a challenge and slip past a defender. Timing and composure are rewarded over holding down sprint and hoping for the best.
- New first-touch techniques: players can cushion, redirect or knock the ball into space as it arrives, so you can see the difference between a controlled reception and a loose one on every possession.
- Finely tuned ball physics: the ball spins, bounces and slows with convincing weight. Long diagonals, low crosses and scrappy loose balls in the box behave the way they would on a real pitch.
A Completely Revamped Master League
Master League has long been the reason PES players keep one save file going for season after season, and the 2020 edition rebuilt it from the menus up.
- Interactive dialogue
- A new dialogue system brings conversations into your managerial career. You respond to key moments across a campaign instead of clicking past them, which gives your time in charge more personality over a long run.
- Overhauled menu design
- Redesigned menus make it quicker to check the squad, plan the next fixture and keep track of the season. More of your time goes into the decisions that actually shape the club.
- A more realistic transfer market
- Better data integration makes player values and transfer activity feel closer to the real sport. Building a title-winning squad takes planning, a sensible budget and an eye for the right signing.
Europe's Biggest Clubs on the Pitch
PES 2020 puts you in charge of some of the biggest names in world soccer: Spanish champions FC Barcelona, global giants Manchester United, German champions FC Bayern München and Italian champions Juventus, who feature exclusively in PES. The Fox Engine gives them lifelike player models and the matchday presentation the series is known for, so a big European night looks right from kickoff to the final whistle.
Offline Football, Solo or Side by Side
Konami shut down the online services for PES 2020 in September 2021, so myClub, MATCHDAY and online matches are no longer available. The offline game still works, and there is plenty of it.
- Quick matches: pick your favorite club and play a one-off match whenever you have twenty minutes spare. It works just as well for testing a new tactic as for replaying a classic rivalry.
- Practice and drills: practice shootouts and training drills give you somewhere to master Finesse Dribble and the new first-touch control before you take them into a Master League season.
- Local multiplayer: play head to head against a friend on the same screen, or team up in local co-op against the AI. It is the classic way to settle a rivalry and still one of the best ways to play PES.
If you love soccer that rewards patience, vision and a good first touch, eFootball PES 2020 is waiting. Pick your club, take your seat in the Master League dugout and see how far a well-built squad and a steady touch on the ball can carry you.
