Ultra Street Fighter IV is the final and most complete form of Capcom’s genre-defining fighter. Five new characters and six new stages join a roster rebalanced on direct player feedback, while new mechanics such as Red Focus and Ultra Combo Double add fresh layers of decision-making to one of the most studied fighting systems ever made. Every costume released for Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is included, bringing the full 44-character cast together in one package.
Five New Challengers, Six New Arenas
Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento and Decapre complete the roster at 44 fighters, and each one plays unlike anything already on the select screen. Hugo and Rolento carry their Final Fight pedigree into the ring with towering grapples and whip-fast baton pressure, Poison mixes fireballs with long-range pokes, Elena’s capoeira turns every step into a kick with unusual reach, and Decapre offers charge-based mix-ups that reward patience and a sharp read.
Six new stages give those matchups somewhere memorable to play out: Pitstop 109, Mad Gear Hideout, Cosmic Elevator, Blast Furnace, Half Pipe and the Jurassic Era Research Facility each bring their own crowd, colour and sense of scale, adding welcome visual variety to a game that rewards hundreds of hours of play.
Rebalanced on Player Feedback
Rather than tune the game behind closed doors, Capcom gathered direct feedback from the community on all 39 Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition characters and the core system mechanics, then adjusted the cast with the explicit aim of delivering the most balanced Street Fighter ever. Familiar matchups feel fresh, underused characters have new reasons to be picked, and the top of the tier list is a far more crowded place.
Edition Select adds a twist for long-time players: choose any character’s version from an earlier release of Street Fighter IV and test it against the current cast, whether to settle an old argument or simply to revisit a favourite the way you remember it.
New Mechanics, Deeper Decisions
- Red Focus Attack
- An EX-powered evolution of the Focus Attack that absorbs multiple hits instead of one, letting you stand firm through a combo string and punish an opponent who thought they were safe. It costs meter, so knowing when to commit becomes a decision in itself.
- Ultra Combo Double
- Select both of a character’s Ultra Combos at once and call on whichever fits the moment, at reduced damage. It opens up options for every matchup and rewards players who understand what each Ultra is for rather than relying on a single big finisher.
- Delayed Standing
- Tap two buttons as you hit the ground to delay your wake-up, throwing off the timing of set-play and knockdown pressure. Against characters built on vortex offence it turns a losing loop into a genuine guessing game for both sides.
Modes for Every Kind of Fighter
- Team Battle Mode pits squads of fighters against each other in elimination bouts, so a single evening on the couch can run through far more of the roster than a straight best-of-three, and a comeback from the last player standing feels earned.
- Online Training Mode lets you work through a matchup with a friend in real time, practising set-ups, spacing and punishes together instead of against a dummy, while online leaderboards keep score of how those lessons translate into ranked play.
- Local versus on a single screen keeps the arcade tradition alive, with full controller support so a pad or stick feels at home, and shared-screen play means the next challenger is only ever a seat away.
